PolyScope 5.12 LTS End of Support Announcement
End of Support for PolyScope 5.12 LTS – What You Need to Know
Published: July 30th, 2025.
Summary:
PolyScope 5.12 LTS was introduced in 2021 to support our customers through a time of global electronics component shortages. It offered a stable software foundation for long-term deployments. As the market stabilizes and newer versions of PolyScope 5 are released, we are now officially announcing the end of support for PolyScope 5.12 LTS.
Why was 5.12 LTS introduced?
During a period marked by significant supply chain uncertainty, Universal Robots introduced the Long-Term Support (LTS) concept to ensure customers had access to a consistent and reliable software environment. PolyScope 5.12 LTS has served this role well and been widely adopted across diverse industries.

What changes now?
- End of Support Date: December 31, 2025
- Successor Versions: Customers are encouraged to upgrade to the latest release, currently PolyScope 5.22, to benefit from continued updates and full compatibility with all UR robots.
- No Future LTS Releases: Universal Robots is not continuing the LTS program going forward. However, all PolyScope 5 releases will retain backwards compatibility.
What does this mean for you?
- You can continue using PolyScope 5.12 until the end of 2025 with full support.
- We recommend planning for an upgrade to a newer PolyScope version before that time.
- Programs and installations made in 5.12 will continue to work in all newer PolyScope 5 versions.
What about the future of PolyScope?
PolyScope 5 remains an actively supported platform in maintenance mode, with future updates focused on reliability and core motion performance. Support is planned through at least 2027. Meanwhile, PolyScope X, our new next-generation software, is the focus for innovation going forward.
