BEHCO Checksum Utility
Every collaborative application and its Risk Assessment, results in specific safety settings in the cobot. If the safety settings are changed, it could result in disqualification during a compliance audit. BEHCO’s Checksum Verification Utility allows external hardware to monitor and report the status of the UR Checksum Safety Configuration. Manufacturers that are used to working with Safety PLCs usually monitor checksums as a part of their safety management system. Now this is possible with Universal Robot e-Series.
The software is uploaded into the Teach Pendant and operates as a “URCap”. Each cobot serial number is used to activate the software for programming with a Safety PLC or other external device. Once installed, users simply navigate to the cobot’s Installation Tab and set the safety configuration as defined by their risk assessment. The Checksum value can be translated into a String value or an integer value, based upon requirements of the PLC. Rockwell and Siemens PLC's have been verfied as functional.
How does it work?
The user sets up the robot’s Safety Configuration parameters in the Installation tab defined by the risk assessment. The user must apply the changes to the Safety Configuration for the Safety Checksum value to reflect the changes. In the robot program, users will initialize their variable(s) and assign the desired function of checksum(), ckSum16First(), or ckSum16Last(). The user is then able to send these values to external hardware, such as a PLC, via Modbus TCP, PROFINET, or Ethernet/IP.
