Network Interface Management

Description

The Interfaces screen lets you view and control the physical network interfaces on the control box and robot arm. This screen is available on both Control Box 5 and Control Box 7.

CB7 Four Ethernet ports: three in the control box, one at the tool flange The tool flange port is available when connected to a g-Series arm. The screen lists any attached USB-to-Ethernet adapters.
CB5 Only eth0 eth0 cannot be reassigned to a different sub-system from the UI. The screen lists any attached USB-to-Ethernet adapters.

 

To access the Interfaces screen

  1. Open the hamburger menu.

  2. Tap Settings.

  3. Under Connection, tap Interfaces.

  4. Tap Unlock, enter the Admin password, and tap Confirm.

The Interfaces screen lists all detected interfaces, including built-in Ethernet ports and any connected USB-to-Ethernet adapters.

 

To assign an interface

  1. Select the interface port you want to configure.

  2. Tap the Sub-system assignment field and select an assignment for that port. See the assignment options below for a description of each choice.

  3. Confirm your selection.

  4. Wait for the status message in the lower-left corner. The message confirms whether the assignment succeeded or was rejected.

  5. Tap Lock and Close, or navigate away from the Interfaces screen, to lock and protect your changes.

Network Interfaces Assignment

 

The following table lists the owner assignment options for each interface.

Assignment Description
None The interface is disabled.
Network The interface is assigned to the PolyScope X network.
URCap The interface is assigned to a specific URCap that has requested a device of type network.
Automatic (USB interfaces only) The interface is automatically assigned to the first URCap that requests it, following a round-robin scheme.

The State column shows the current state of each interface.

The following table lists the assignment states. The Status column also shows the physical link status of the interface (for example, link speed and whether the link is up or down).

State Description
Accepted The URCap has accepted ownership of the interface.
Pending The URCap has been notified of the ownership assignment but has not yet responded.
Rejected The URCap has rejected ownership of the interface.

 

PolyScope X network

You can assign any number of interfaces to the PolyScope X network. Devices on those interfaces communicate with each other and with the robot as if they were connected to the same switch. All URCaps can communicate on the network, in addition to any interfaces assigned individually to them on request.

Interfaces assigned to the network are isolated from interfaces assigned to URCaps. A device on a URCap-assigned interface cannot reach devices on the network, and vice versa. This keeps URCap-specific device traffic separate from general robot and plant network traffic.

Configure the network and its services in the PolyScope X Network settings. Interfaces assigned to a URCap are configured and managed entirely by that URCap.
