The Thomson Movotrak™ cobot transfer unit (CTU) is a true collaborative 7th axis for UR robots, featuring patent-pending collision detection settings and Freedrive mode for groundbreaking programming and control benefits. A plug-and-play system for quick and easy implementation into various robotic functions, this collaborative 7th axis adds a horizontal operating range up to 10 m to significantly boost productivity and output. The Thomson Movotrak CTU, which is compatible with the full range of UR cobots and offers flexible mounting options, features a dual-actuator design for maximum moment load and stiffness.

Installation Instructions

• Remove Thomson Movotrak CTU from crate and mount linear units per manual instructions.
• Attach cobot to pre-drilled mounting plate and connect UR flexible power cable through included cable management tray.
• Set up safety I/O from Thomson control cabinet to UR controller per manual.
• Install URCap and set collision detection sensitivity for the CTU under the Installation tab.
• Your CTU is ready to use! Utilize linear Freedrive mode to set linear waypoints in the robot program.

Collision detection settings provide users with enhanced capabilities, including:

• User-adjustable collision detection on the Collaborative 7th Axis performs similar to robotic joints.
• Set the sensitivity during installation per your application's requirements.
• Freedrive programming mode allows hand-driven movements to set linear waypoints directly on the UR Teach Pendant.
• Large surface areas on the Collaborative 7th Axis linear carriage allow for a safeguard stop when contacted.
• All collision monitoring is conducted on the Collaborative 7th Axis motor drive with minimal processing required from the UR controller. Thomson URCap works well with multiple other URCaps.
• Safety I/O connections as standard to respond to other third-party safety devices.
• A dual-actuator design helps deliver maximum moment load and stiffness, even when the cobot arm is fully extended.
• Can be mounted with any UR robot, including the UR20 and UR30, in all directions (horizontally, wall-mounted, inverted, etc.).
• End-of-stroke limit switches and cable management are included.
• Mounting feet are provided to mount the transfer to industry-standard metric or inch extrusions.
