Olympus Palletiser
Olympus Technologies' 2-station UR palletising system is capable of acheiving up to 11 cycles, or 200kg of product, per minute. The UR20 robot is mounted centrally on a fixed column stand, providing sufficient reach to pick cases from a conveyor and placing on 2 pallets (up to 1.2m x 1.0m) in each side of the cell.
Overview
Olympus Technologies' 2-station UR palletising system is capable of acheiving up to 11 cycles, or 200kg of product, per minute. The UR20 robot is mounted centrally on a fixed column stand, providing sufficient reach to pick cases from a conveyor and placing on 2 pallets (up to 1.2m x 1.0m) in each side of the cell.
The maximum height of pallet depends on product specific dimensions and pallet layouts but typically heights up to 2.1m from the floor can be achieved. Operating the palletiser is as simple as loading a program on the robot and pressing play.
The operator uses a two-button sequence to set the light guards to allow full speed motion and uses green buttons to inform the system that a pallet is in place available to be populated with product.
New product configurations for the palletiser are created using Olympus’ easy-to-use offline pallet configurator. This allows new products to be added to the system with minimal downtime. To achieve the best cycle time the robot is capable of moving at speed at head height; as such some additional safety is required.
For our standard cell Olympus uses a combination of fixed guarding and light guard entry at the front to offer customers the smallest footprint on a UKCA marked safe palletising cell, whilst maintaining easy access and cost effectiveness.

How Does it Work?:
Operators configure pallets using Olympus’ offline drag and drop pallet configuration software. Each layer of the pallet can be configured differently, or existing layers can be copied and rotated as required to build up the full pallet.
The configuration software automatically creates the optimal pick and drop routine, picking as many cases as it can using the configured product and end effector.
The pallet configuration is sent to the robot, and the uploaded file is selected and run to start production. With the program running, the operator finally selects which station you want the palletising to commence in. The robot will palletise cases in the selected station until this pallet is full, at which point it will automatically switch to the other station, providing the next station is empty and ready.
The full pallet can be removed and replaced with a pallet truck whilst the other station is still operating. Breaking the light guards across the front of the cell will cause the robot to enter reduced velocity mode. As soon as the full pallet has been removed, the new pallet has been placed, and the cell has been reset, the robot will return to full production speed.
