The Leverage Robotics ToolCubes are automatic exchangeable robot tools to perform multiple tasks on one robot. They expand the possibilities of a simple two-finger gripper by a multitude of options like vacuum gripping, centered gripping of round objects, or magnetic gripping of ferro magnetic objects and still keeping the capabilities of the parallel gripper.They can be used with a standard robot gripper and are purely passive: a voltage supply or vacuum generation etc. is not necessary. Only the existing gripper jaws have to be exchanged for the enclosed gripper jaws. The tools can be placed and used anywhere in the work area, thus avoiding unnecessary long travel distances and reducing cycle times. The ToolCubes use minimize set-up times and significantly increase the flexibility of the robot system.

The Leverage ToolCubes are totally passive and just activated by closing or opening the parallel two finger gripper. The included LR Gripper Jaws enable a precise centering of the ToolCube and ensure repeatability for the robot application. Each ToolCube has a different strength: The MagnetGripper is able to grasp ferro magnetic objects and especially bulk material like screws or bolts. The Surface Gripper is able to lift heavy and flat objects. The Vacuum Grippers help handling flat and light objects and the Center Grippers strength is to center circular object. Depending on the application you choose the best working ToolCubes for the task, even if there are many different steps on one robot.


Let’s consider a peg in hole task of a bolt: For this, the center gripper would probably fit best, which we place in the ToolCube Holder anywhere in the workspace. The parallel gripper can thus be used to fetch several storage units into the work area and place them precisely. The center gripper is then picked up by the robot, grips individual bolts and inserts them into the main components. The center gripper can then be put in the holder again and the assembled component be placed on a conveyor belt or sorted into a crate using the two finger gripper again. The high-speed tool changing enables shortest setup times and lowest durations of the applications.
