Powered by UR g-Series and PolyScope X

UR g-Series robots bring 1 Gb Ethernet to the tool flange. A PLOC2D mounted on the arm connects there, so nothing has to be routed along the outside of the robot. Cable runs stay short, there are fewer connectors to check, and the cell stays tidy. Because the sensor works at the tool, connecting it at the tool removes hardware rather than adding it.

PolyScope X completes the picture. The PLOC2D URCap runs the whole setup on the teach pendant, covering network configuration, camera installation and calibration, workplane alignment, hand eye alignment and jobs. Locate, Move, SmartMark and Command program nodes then build the routine, and a ready template program provides a working pick and place starting point.

How Does it Work?:

The PLOC2D EduPack is designed to make teaching and learning 2D vision-guided robotics simple and effective. Setup begins by:

• Mount camera and camera stand

• Connect SICK PLOC2D camera using the provided Ethernet and power cable with terminals to Ethernet switch and UR controller.

• Install PLOC2D URCap to UR robot

Once installed, educators and students follow a structured curriculum delivered through the UR Learning Management System (LMS) or determine their own path.

The course includes six modules covering everything from vision theory and camera setup to real-world applications like pick-and-place and belt picking. Students perform hands-on lab activities using the camera and UR robot, learning to calibrate, align, and configure vision jobs.

The process culminates in a capstone project where learners design and optimize a complete vision-guided robotic system. Upon completion, students earn a SICK-recognized certification, demonstrating their proficiency in industrial 2D vision applications.

Note, the user must provide the following:

• Paper printed calibration target (PDF available)

• PC for interface with the PLOC2D web server
