Universal Robots in Melbourne at National Manufacturing Week

Universal Robots General Manager for South East Asia and Oceania, Shermine Gotfredsen believes there are growth opportunities for SMEs in manufacturing across all industries within Australia.

Empowering businesses to improve processes create efficiencies, save money; improve business culture, and employee satisfaction,” said Gotfredsen.

The introduction of collaborative robots has made a significant impact on one family-owned and operated business in Melbourne, Prysm Industries.

MAKING AN IMPACT IN MELBOURNE

Plastics and injection molding manufacturer, Prysm Industries, integrated a UR5 into their production approximately 18 months ago to take on labeling tasks, as a result, they’ve experienced improved product consistency and employee wellbeing, the UR5 has freed up workers to operate other machinery within the production and the business is attracting the attention of customers on a local and global scale.

Prysm has increased its number of employees because they can now do more within the production thanks to the UR5. The company has reported a saving of $550 per day in labeling expenses, alone, and the robot paid for itself in less than 12 months.

From May 9-12 our UR3, UR5 and UR10 will be showcased in Melbourne, at Australia’s largest manufacturing showcase, National Manufacturing Week. Visitors will have the chance to personally experience our UR robots in a number of interactive displays and presentations.

During the exhibition period, Universal Robots will be involved in several educational presentations and displays that will focus on the specific safety features, flexibility, ease of use and simple programming of the collaborative robots which gives everyone the opportunity to become a robot programmer, even those with no prior robotic or programming experience.

When visitors come to the Universal Robots stand at National Manufacturing Week, they’ll be greeted by a UR5 and be able to experience the whole robot family live in multiple applications.

Universal Robots Regional Head of Technical Support for South East Asia and Oceania, Andrew Pether, said visitors would see first hand, how easy it is to implement a Universal Robot.

“Collaborative robots solve hundreds of manufacturing challenges faced by manufacturers daily.

“At National Manufacturing Week, we’ll be showcasing three applications; welding, press machine tending and pick and place application each of which will highlight how fast and easy these robots can be deployed and how safe they are to work alongside employees. We want visitors at the exhibition to see exactly what’s possible for their business,” Pether said.
