It builds on the UR Series design to add power, data, and safety connectivity at the tool flange.
UR Series is Universal Robots 6th generation robot arm family, released in 2022. The UR Series brought a complete arm re-design enabling heavier payloads, longer reaches, faster motion, and higher IP protection for industrial deployment.
e-Series is Universal Robots 5th generation robot arm family, released in 2018 covering lighter payloads and shorter reaches for workbench automation. Its collaborative-industrial arm are dependable and validated by tens of thousands of successful deployments worldwide.

Robot arm compatibility
Which robot arms are supported by the Gen 7 platform at launch?
At launch, Gen 7 includes the new g-Series robot arms:

Current launch planning also includes support for selected existing Universal Robots arms when paired with compatible Gen 7 hardware. These include:

Not necessarily.
Customers may be able to access Gen 7 capabilities by pairing a compatible existing e-Series or UR Series robot arm with Gen 7 hardware and software components. Available configurations depend on the robot model and system setup.
How are UR robot models named now?
With the launch of the Gen 7 platform, Universal Robots is introducing a new robot naming logic.
UR robot names now contain payload, robot family, and reach in the name. For example, the UR10g-1750 is a 10 kg payload arm, part of the g-Series robot family, and has a reach of 1750mm.
Select e-Series and UR Series robots are also adopting this new naming logic with Gen 7, but the robot arms themselves remain mechanically unchanged.
PolyScope X
What is PolyScope X?
PolyScope X is the software platform for Gen 7 systems. It provides a modern user experience, expanded connectivity, and the foundation for future platform capabilities.
Is PolyScope X only available on new g-Series robots?
No. PolyScope X is the native software environment for Gen 7 systems, but selected existing e-Series and UR Series arms can also access PolyScope X capabilities when paired with compatible Gen 7 hardware.
UR+ ecosystem
What is UR+ and how does it relate to Gen 7?
UR+ is the Universal Robots ecosystem of compatible products, software, accessories, and technology partners.

What is the e-Series?
The e-Series is Universal Robots’ family of collaborative industrial robots for lighter payloads and shorter reaches. Brought to market in 2018, it covers work such as assembly, inspection, dispensing, and lighter machine tending.
The family includes the UR3e-540, UR7e-920, and UR12e-1300.
Model naming
Why are the models called UR3e-540, UR7e-920, and UR12e-1300?
Model names now carry both of the figures you need to size an arm. The first number is payload: the UR5e and UR10e were renamed UR7e and UR12e to reflect the payloads they actually carry, 7.5 kg and 12.5 kg. The number after the dash is reach in millimeters.
Reach is now a standard part of the name across the product range, so a UR7e-920 tells you 7.5 kg (16.5 lbs) payload and 920 mm (36.2 in) reach without opening a spec table.
The robots themselves are mechanically unchanged. The reach figures in the new names come from a revised measurement method rather than any change to the arms, and if you already run a UR5e, UR10e, UR3e, UR7e, or UR12e, your robot, tooling, and programs are unaffected by the naming change.

Teach pendant options
Which teach pendant is used with the e-Series?

The current and latest teach pendant model recommended for the e-Series is the TP7 Core, paired with the CB7 controller and PolyScope X.
e-Series previously shipped with the Standard Teach pendant or the 3PE teach pendant.
UR teach pendants can be ordered with a new e-Series system or bought separately as a spare or replacement part through your UR distributor.
What is the difference between the three teach pendants: TP7 Core, 3PE teach pendant, and standard teach pendant?
TP7 Core is the latest teach pendant model as a part of the Gen 7 platform. It features built in ISO compliant 3PE devices, configurable Smart Buttons, and virtual joystick for PolyScope X for the industry’s most modern and intuitive interaction experience.
The 3PE teach pendant is Universal Robots 6th generation teach pendant model which offers integrated 3PE enabling devices to meet ISO safety requirements. A three-position enabling device is a protective switch used widely with industrial robots.
The standard teach pendant is Universal Robots 5th generation teach pendant which offers a built in 2PE freedrive switch. With the standard pendant, a separate external 3PE device is required to meet evolving ISO safety standards.
Why is a 3PE function required necessary?
The 2025 revision of ISO 10218 tightens the requirements around manual-mode operation, and requires a three-position enabling (3PE) device for all applications.
The benefit of using a teach pendant with 3PE devices built in (TP7 Core or 3PE teach pendant) is easier operation and native integration of the device within the software.
Can I add a teach pendant with a built in 3PE device to an e-Series robot later?
Yes. The TP7 Core or 3PE teach pendant is available as a spare part and UR+ accessory, and it is compatible with all e-Series robots.
Software platform
Which software platform does the e-Series run on?
e-Series robots run PolyScope, Universal Robots’ programming environment. Which version you get depends on the control box your robot ships with rather than on the arm itself.
PolyScope X is the current version and the basis for UR’s ongoing software roadmap.

Environmental rating
What IP rating do e-Series robots have?
All e-Series robot arms are rated IP54, as defined in IEC 60529 (EN 60529). That gives protection against dust in harmful quantities and against water splashed from any direction.
The control box and teach pendant carry their own ratings, so environmental suitability depends on the complete installation, including cabling and your end effector.
If your application involves heavy dust, coolant mist, or washdown, ask your UR distributor about the higher-rated IP65 arms in the heavier ranges.
Certifications
Are e-Series robots TÜV certified?
Yes. e-Series robots are certified by TÜV Nord to EN ISO 13849-1 at Category 3 PLd and to ISO 10218-1.
The edition of ISO 10218 that applies can vary by model and configuration. Your UR distributor can confirm the current certificates for the exact configuration you are specifying.
Are e-Series robots UL 1740 certified?
Yes. e-Series robots are built in compliance with UL 1740, alongside EN ISO 13849-1 (PLd Category 3) and EN ISO 10218-1.
UL 1740 is a North American standard, and coverage can vary by model and market. Confirm with your UR distributor for your region.
Safety
Do I still need a risk assessment if the robot is collaborative?
Yes. Every robot application requires a risk assessment, collaborative or not. “Collaborative” describes the application, not the robot on its own.
The assessment covers the arm, the end effector, the workpiece, the layout, the task, and the people around it, and it determines what safeguarding and which safety function settings are required. The completed installation must comply with the applicable standards for robot applications, including ISO 10218-2.

About the UR Series
What is the UR Series?
The UR Series is Universal Robots' high-performance range of collaborative industrial robots brought to the market in 2022. The UR Series is built for work requiring more payload, reach, and speed than a standard cobot, while keeping the flexibility and ease of use UR is known for.
Introduced in 2022 with the UR20, the UR Series family has included: UR8 Long, UR15, UR18, UR20 (now UR20-1750) and UR30 (now UR30-1300).
The UR8 Long (succeeded by UR10g-1750), UR15 (succeeded by UR17g-1300), and UR18 (succeeded by UR18g-950) are mature products which have been succeeded by the g-Series robot family released in 2026 as a part of the Gen 7 platform. The UR8 Long, UR15, and UR18 remain fully supported; service, spare parts, and software updates continue.
UR20 and UR30 have been renamed UR20-1750 and UR30-1300 and remain active models for new deployments.
Why are the UR20 and UR30 models now called UR20-1750 and UR30-1300?
UR20 and UR30 have been renamed UR20-1750 and UR30-1300 to align with the Generation 7 platform release in 2026. With this platform release, Universal Robots has changed how we name our robots, to include both payload in kg and reach in mm. The UR20-1750 name now tells you 20 kg (44 lbs) payload and 1750 mm (68.9 in) reach without opening a spec table.
The UR20-1750 and UR30-1300 robots are mechanically unchanged from the UR20 and UR30 but are now compatible with Generation 7 components: CB7 controllers and TP7 teach pendants.

What does expanded payload mean?
Most UR Series models have two payload figures: a rated payload, and a higher expanded payload that applies when the application stays within specified limits. Those limits cover the center of gravity of the load, how the arm is mounted, and the speed and acceleration of the motion.
Every model also holds its full rated payload out to a set tool offset, beyond which capacity tapers off. The payload curve on each model’s product page shows exactly where that point is.
If your application meets those conditions, the expanded payload is available to you. If it does not, design around the rated payload. Your UR distributor or integrator can confirm which figure applies to your setup.

The classification applies at reduced speed and payload rather than at full rated performance, so factor your intended duty cycle into the assessment.
If cleanroom class is critical to your installation, confirm the rating for your specific model and operating conditions before committing to a layout.

The difference is scale. Higher payload and longer reach mean more energy in the system, so the application risk assessment matters more, not less.
All UR robots are Power and Force Limited (PFL) robots, often called collaborative robots or cobots. PFL robots are industrial robots with built-in safety functions that make it possible to design applications where people work close to the robot.

What type of software do UR Robots use?
UR robots run on a software called PolyScope. PolyScope is a user-friendly graphical interface that removes much of the complexity of programming through easily configurable commands. PolyScope also supports more complex usage for advanced users such as scripting and various integration and protocol support.
What is the difference between PolyScope and PolyScope X?
PolyScope X is a re-platforming of PolyScope to support enhanced cyber security requirements as well as advanced functionality. While botht the UR Series and e-Series can run on either PolyScope or PolyScope X, PolyScope X is the most current and preferred OS.
Do I have to pay for the software?
PolyScope and PolyScope X are both included in the cost of the robot, however we do have some software packages that require an additional purchase and license to use.
Does the UR Series support both PolyScope and PolyScope X?
Yes, the UR Series supports both PolyScope 5 and PolyScope X.

Can I reconfigure or reprogram my UR cobot to switch between different tasks easily? Can I save and re-use previous programs?
Yes. All cobots from Universal Robots are versatile and re-deployable, allowing for a manageable installation and subsequent re-installation elsewhere in your facilities. This is primarily due to their light weight, standard 100-240 VAC connection, and small footprint. After a robot has been installed in a work cell, it is common to make small adjustments to the program during a part changeover. Certain types of applications like machine loading and welding are an especially good fit for production that requires frequent changeovers. Moving the robot between two work cells is also possible if each cell has been set up to work with the robot.
If I have other cobots already in use in a production facility, can I integrate a new Universal Robots’ cobot without changing the existing layouts/process flows?
Yes, Universal Robots’ cobots can often be integrated without changing existing floor plans, layouts, or process flows. However, keep in mind that with minimal floor space, changes to layout and/or process flows may be required to optimize deployment for maximum throughput.

What end-effectors and other accessories can I use with UR cobots?

Can I replace a joint only?
Yes, it is possible to only replace a joint. Raise a ticket in myUR to get started.
How can I request a repair?
A repair can be requested by raising a ticket in myUR or reaching out to your local UR distributor.
A quotation for the repair will be provided by your local UR distributor. Once this quote has been approved you will receive a return note and instructions for how to return the part to the local UR distributor or Universal Robots.

What lead times can I expect on a repair?
For joints, teach pendants and controller boxes we aim to expedite the servicing within five (5) workdays. For robot arms and complete robots repair time may vary, you are always welcome to reach out to us in myUR to hear more about the current state of repair lead times.
How can I make a claim?
Follow the same process as requesting a repair; raising a ticket in myUR or reaching out to your local UR distributor.

How do I know which part(s) to return?
Universal Robots will, along with your local UR distributor, determine which parts are necessary to return.
Which part can be found on the return note delivered by Universal Robots. It’s important to only return the parts stated on the return note.
Which parts can be serviced?
Joints, teach pendants, controller boxes, robot arms and complete robots. Other parts can be bought as spare parts.
Will I get a service report?
Yes, a thorough service report will be created for all service repairs.
Who is my local distributor?
Your distributor is the company who sold you the robot. If you do not know who sold you the robot, all local UR distributors can be found here. You are also welcome to reach out to us on myUR.

What is myUR?
myUR is our digital customer portal where users can experience all interactions in one place. Raise a support ticket, read a support article or watch how-to videos. If you do not already have an account, register here today.
Who can sign up to myUR?
All users and customers of UR can sign up to myUR.
How long does it take to sign up for myUR?
The initial sign-up process will only take a few minutes. Once you sign up, you have immediate access to the support cases you create. To access other myUR features, you need to verify your account. This process serves the security of your individual login, and it can take a few days.
How do I register my cobot in myUR?
To register your cobot, login to myUR, click 'Robots' in the menu and then the 'Register new robot' button. If it's your first login, you may need to verify your account before you can register a robot.
What benefit do I get my connecting my UR cobot?
By connecting your cobot, you will be able to automatically backup your robot data and programs and be able to recover from stoppages as fast as possible with a suite of tools.

I want to connect the cobot. Do you have information about cyber security for my IT department?
To find more information about cyber security, please see our Cyber Security and Data FAQ document. You can give the document directly to your IT department which includes all the information needed to know about information security, what ports to open, etc.
What happens if I don’t register (in myUR)?
If you do not register in myUR, you can continue to use your cobot as you normally would. However, by registering for myUR, you gain access to support and set up help, and receive communication about product offerings, recalls or future product development.
Do you collect or sell data about my application?
While UR does collect customer’s data through myUR in order to provide insights on and analysis of the robot, we do not sell customer data or make it available to external parties.
Where can I find documentation, manuals and information about the cobot?
All manuals can be accessed on myUR or directly here.
Spare parts
Can I buy spare parts as a customer?
Spare parts can be ordered by sending a purchase order to your local UR distributor. If you are unsure which spare part you need, reach out to your local UR distributor, or raise a ticket in myUR.
What is the difference between spare part support covered in the warranty and in the UR Care Service Contracts?
The difference between warranty and the UR Care Service Plan is that the warranty includes the cost for the spare parts if it fails during warranty period and if the problem is covered by the warranty, i.e. no misuse.

Do I need a contract for every cobot?
Yes, you need a contract per cobot. If you have several cobots, please reach out to us at servicesales@universal-robots.com or to your local UR distributor.
