PolyScope X: Input and Output

Description

The M8 IO is an 8-pin tool I/O connector next to the tool flange on Wrist 3 of a CB5.6/e-Series robot configuration. It supplies 0 V, 12 V, and 24 V, and provides two digital outputs, two digital inputs, two analog inputs, and RS485 for grippers and sensors.

Tool Output

The Tool Output contains two digital output fields, Tool Output Voltage, a Power Supply current indicator, and the Dual Pin Power toggle.

  • Digital Output (DO) – Set each output independently to HIGH or LOW. Three modes are available:

    • Sinking (NPN)

    • Sourcing (PNP)

    • Push/Pull

  • Tool Output Voltage – Select 0 V, 12 V, or 24 V. This setting persists when the robot controller restarts.

  • Power Supply – Indicates current consumption.

  • Dual Pin Power – Toggle between digital outputs and a power source for the tool. Enabling Dual Pin Power disables the default tool digital outputs (DO).

After you select a new output configuration, the changes take effect and the loaded installation is updated. After you verify that the tool outputs work as intended, save the installation to keep the changes.

Tool Input

The Tool Input contains two Configurable Input (CI) fields and two Analog Input (AI) current fields.

Configure each CI field independently to one of these action presets:

  • Start Program

  • Stop Program

  • Pause Program

  • Freedrive

Set AI 0 and AI 1 from 4-20 mA. These settings persist when the robot controller restarts and are saved in the installation.
