For a long time, there has been a strong demand for compact, safe, stable and user-friendly robotic solutions automating the repetitive manual tasks related to blood sample analysis handling at labs all over the world.

To illustrate the need: annually more than 1,5 mio. blood samples are handled in the Nordic countries alone.

Many labs have gradually invested in automation but there are still severe bottlenecks where employees daily manually handle tubes related to blood sample and iCa analysis.

Manual blood sample and iCa analysis handling is highly repetitive and very time consuming. On average, each sample takes 1.45 minutes to handle.

Radiometer’s blood sample solutions are widely recognized as the gold standard for measuring iCa, in the market. With the ABL 800 FLEX Cobot Radiometer and Technicon offers labs an automated compact, stable, safe and user-friendly solution designed and developed to eliminate time consuming bottlenecks.

Up til now +15 ABL 800 Flex Cobot’s has been installed at Nordic labs each annually saving approx. 96 days of employees’ repetitive tasks.

The ABL 800 FLEX Cobot consists of a small Universal Robot UR3e with a small footprint and a 3 kg. payload. The UR3e is mounted on a table 1200 x 900 x 1330 mm. table. The table has wheels and is easy to move around in case the set up has to be changed.

An operator places filled racks on the table. Then the UR3 gently and efficiently picks up each tube from a rack, de-lid and handle the tube for testing at the Radiometer solution.

When the testing process is over the robot re-lid scan each tube, automatically scans each tube and finally the UR3e places the tubes are individually and correctly placed in racks. Then the operator can pick up the rack for further process.

It is highly userfriendly, plug-and-play and it massively reduces the time employees daily spend by repetitive tasks.
