Subject: Safety Notice FAQ – CB5 OEM Hipot
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is a Hipot test and why is it important?
A Hipot test is a high potential electrical safety test that verifies insulation integrity and confirms that there are no internal faults in power connections inside the control box. This test ensures that hazardous voltages cannot reach accessible parts and is a mandatory safety verification before shipment.
Are there any known failures or reported incidents related to this issue?
No. There have been no reported issues, injuries, or failures related to missing Hipot test verification data. Additionally, no UR control box has failed a Hipot test to date.
What action do I need to take if my control box is affected?
If your CB5 OEM Control Box is affected, you must create a service case via the customer (https://customers.teradyne-robotics.com) or partner portal (https://partners.teradyne-robotics.com) and reference the Safety Notice. Universal Robots will arrange the required testing and provide a replacement control box if needed.
Do I need to open the control box myself to perform any checks?
No. Do not open the control box or perform any electrical testing yourself. All actions should be coordinated through Universal Robots Service to ensure safety and compliance.
