Autonomous sanding/polishing toolkit - ARAS is an all-in-one equipment that ensures a uniform finish for polishing or sanding flat, curved or even flexible surfaces. The desired outcome is created by a user-friendly path planning algorithm which allows a fast drafting of the desired track. The robot will subsequently follow the defined path during the execution of the program. The user can define many parameters such as sanding orientation, path shape, different tracks concatenation, coverage, etc. During the operation, ARAS controls and adjusts the applied force to the working piece automatically in order to achieve the desired finish. There is no need to teach the robot the curvature of the treated surface; ARAS can accomplish this task by outlining few points (e.g. 4 corners for a rectangular area). With the subsequent sanding operation, ARAS provides a complete map of the actual applied force to the treated surface for quality control purposes. The kit includes all hardware and software for sanding. A fast installation procedure and a specifically designed user interface, permit a quick set-up and short learning curve. You can configure your sanding activity in just a few minutes. ARAS is specifically designed for an efficient automated low and medium production runs. ARAS can be easily configured by the end user. Alternatively, ARQUIMEA provides engineering services for turnkey automation projects.
ARAS solution is based on software and hardware elements:
1. A set of software functions (URCap plug-in) that allows the operator to do a fast and easy parametrization of the desired sanding or polishing process:
a. A path planning function (ARQ-PATH-PLAN): this function allows the operator to easily define the area of sanding and compute different paths to cover the whole area while sanding. The operator just provides a few points (e.g. 4 corners for a quadrilateral area) of the desired working area and a user-friendly path planning algorithm allows a fast drafting of the desired track sanding orientation, path shape, series of different tracks, coverage, etc. There is no need for teaching the robot the curvature of the treated surface.
b. A sanding function (ARQ-SAND); this function allows the user to define the most important sanding parameters to control the performance of the sanding process, such as applied force, velocity and trajectory.
During the execution phase, ARAS automatically generates the path following user indications and controls the robot’s movements on the surface under processing to adapt dynamically. The actual force applied at each point to the workpiece is available to the operator for later quality analysis.
2. All hardware components are compatible with your URe cobot family for sanding or polishing.
