The need for real-world training of mechatronic technicians has grown considerably over the past few years. Programming a robot has traditionally been an abstract affair, and finding and training robot operators was a time-consuming undertaking. Střední škola Technická in Přerov, Czech Republic, is on the cutting-edge of robotics and wanted to bring the new generation of collaborative robots into the classrooms to speed up the training and development of the next generation of robot operators.03 the solution
In order to make the education and training of students engaging, fun and interactive, Střední škola Technická implemented a solution based on a UR5 robot. The UR5 robot’s characteristics were perfect for teaching the students the principles of robotics, while the innovative design and streamlined look of the cobot caught the eye of any tech-lover in the school.
Future mechatronic technicians work hands-on with the robot two hours a week. First they learn the basics of programming, and then they turn their attention to educational tasks where they work in groups to solve problems and create processes.
